As part of one of our lectures, we had the opportunity to watch Ready Player One by Steven Spielberg. Overall, I really enjoyed the film as it was filled with excitement and tension, along with the absolutely beautiful design elements. I think that nostalgia is an important feature in this film, due to the many references that Spielberg has included. For example, many views may be taken back to times in the past were many of the following were popular;  Back to the Future, Batman, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Duran Duran, Halo, Tab, Star Wars, Van Halen, Akira, Mortal Kombat, The A-Team, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the Bee Gees, The Lord of the Rings, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Michael Jackson. By doing this, there will be a broad audience appeal from a range of different ages, genders and ethnic backgrounds. In my opinion, I think that virtual reality is the future. Some elements of virtual reality can be seen in today’s society, but it will take a long time to reach the technology shown in Ready Player One.
